Joystick connections

A standard windows joystick may be used to provide four control buttons. Windows does not recognise a simple switch contact as a valid joystick and so the plug must be wired as follows:

Pin No.Function

8+5V
15(Midi RXD on SoundBlaster)
7Button 2 (Operates when shorted to Gnd) [STOP]
14Button 4 (Operates when shorted to Gnd)[STANDBY NEXT]
6100k (Connect to +5V)
13100k (Connect to +5V)
5Gnd
12(Midi TXD on SoundBlaster)
4Gnd
11100k (Connect to +5V)
3100k (Connect to +5V)
10Button 3 (Operates when shorted to Gnd) [STANDBY PREV]
2Button 1 (Operates when shorted to Gnd) [GO]
9+5V
1+5V

Applicable connector: 9-pin D-sub (male)

The 100K resistors should be connected to +5V.

The Button contacts operate when connected to ground.

To enable joystick control the Joystick control checkbox should be ticked in the options page.

Before contacting support you should check that the joystick is working properly and is recognised by Windows using the Windows Control Panel. The joystick should be specified as a "2-axis, 4-button joystick".
